Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, has expressed the view that "AI speed limits" should be introduced during the development of advanced artificial intelligence before human control can no longer keep up. He emphasized the importance of managing the risks brought about by technological progress.
This matter is not a product release, but rather a policy statement and warning regarding the approach to AI development. CEO Amodei pointed out the risk that, in the future, if AI acquires self-improving capabilities, it may evolve at a pace that vastly overwhelms human monitoring capacity.
Currently, AI development, including large language models (LLMs), is progressing rapidly. Amodei argued that as AI intelligence improves, a framework for industry-wide cooperation and applying the brakes is necessary to ensure that research and development for safety assurance do not exceed physical and software limits.
Anthropic places AI safety research at its core, suggesting its intention to foster industry-wide discussions moving forward while promoting the creation of frameworks to balance human governance with technological evolution.
