Google has announced a new feature that allows its AI agents to directly control devices within the Google Home ecosystem. This enables users to operate smart home devices more intuitively and automatically through AI.
With this new capability, the AI agent recognizes connected devices in Google Home—such as lighting, thermostats, cameras, and security systems—as targets for operation. In response to complex voice or text commands, the AI determines and executes actions such as switching devices on and off or adjusting settings.
Previously, smart home control was limited to direct user voice commands or individual routine settings. This update enhances the AI's ability to understand the context within user instructions, automatically select the target devices, and execute the tasks.
Google will roll out this feature progressively, aiming to expand compatible devices and improve control accuracy. In the future, the company envisions a smart home where the AI autonomously assesses changes in the household environment and optimizes settings without requiring manual user intervention.
