Klang AI AB, a Helsingborg-based startup in Sweden, has raised approximately 15 million SEK (approx. $1.5M USD) in funding. The newly secured capital will be allocated toward research and development, talent acquisition, and international business expansion. The company has positioned Japan as a key strategic market and plans to further strengthen its business operations there.
Klang AI AB develops and provides "Klang," a conversational AI platform designed to assist with transcription, summarization, search, and analysis of meetings and interviews. The company launched its Japanese version in August 2026, offering services through a web platform as well as iOS and Android applications. Notably, the company maintains a strict policy of not using customer conversation data to train its AI models.
Through this funding round, Klang AI plans to hire approximately 10 new employees across R&D, marketing, and other sectors. A primary area of focus will be the development of a compact, high-performance speech recognition model tailored specifically for the Japanese language. The company intends to apply the expertise gained from developing its Swedish model, "Pianissimo"—specifically the balance between computational efficiency and recognition accuracy—to the new Japanese model. Furthermore, Klang AI aims to establish a local subsidiary in Japan in the future, deepening its commitment to the Japanese market on both technological and business fronts.
