Merry, Inc. (formerly Plusbase, Inc.) has officially launched its "Merry" platform, a specialized spot-work service for nurses. Alongside the full-scale rollout, the company announced a successful funding round led by Dawn Capital, Skyland Ventures, and various angel investors. The new capital will be used to scale the company's sales operations, strengthen onboarding support, accelerate product development, and bolster recruitment efforts to attract more nursing professionals.
"Merry" provides healthcare facilities with the ability to hire nurses and nursing assistants on a short-term basis, ranging from a few hours to a full day. The platform has seen rapid adoption, expanding to 20 corporations and 320 medical facilities within just four months of its beta release. The service’s core differentiator is its "on-site accompaniment" model, driven by a team of active-duty nurses. Rather than simply serving as a temporary staffing bridge, Merry assists facilities with everything from optimizing job postings to creating effective onboarding manuals, ultimately aiming to foster long-term retention and sustainable staffing structures.
Healthcare staffing in Japan faces deep-seated structural challenges, including severe nursing shortages and high turnover rates. Merry aims to address these issues by positioning spot-work as a strategic gateway to long-term employment, helping medical institutions achieve more sustainable operations. Looking ahead, the company plans to scale its service nationwide, expanding its footprint to include home-visit nursing agencies, private clinics, and all other medical facilities in need of reliable nursing talent.
