Milunda Inc. has completed its seed round of financing through a third-party allotment of shares. The round was led by Global Brain Corporation via the "TAKANAWA GATEWAY Earth Benefaction Investment Limited Partnership" (Takanawa Earth Benefaction Fund) and the "Meiji Yasuda Mirai Co-Creation Investment Limited Partnership" (Meiji Yasuda Mirai Co-Creation Fund). Milunda is engaged in the R&D of novel in vitro diagnostics and medical devices designed to enable the early detection of cancer by leveraging its proprietary RNA modification analysis technology.
Milunda is a startup founded on research achievements from the Cabinet Office's Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP). The company was established with the support of Premo Partners Inc., a medical and healthcare sector incubator. By targeting RNA modifications—a crucial biological information marker—Milunda aims to achieve early cancer diagnosis that has been difficult with conventional methods. The company is driven by the vision: "Transforming undiscovered cancers into detectable ones."
Proceeds from this funding round will be used to accelerate research and clinical development. Milunda's RNA modification analysis technology has demonstrated the potential to deliver high diagnostic performance for pancreatic and liver cancers, which are notoriously difficult to detect early using existing testing methods. Moving forward, the company plans to accelerate its business operations as an innovative, Japan-origin cancer screening technology, with sights set on expansion beyond the domestic market into the global arena.
