Parallel Systems, a developer of autonomous freight rail technology, has announced that it has secured $100 million in a Series B funding round. Founded by former SpaceX engineers, the company is driving the development of next-generation freight transportation solutions.
Parallel Systems is developing zero-emission, autonomous electric rail cars. Unlike traditional, rigid freight train formations, individual cars travel autonomously, enabling smaller-scale and more frequent freight transport. This aims to significantly enhance the flexibility and efficiency of railway infrastructure.
The newly raised capital will be used to accelerate the development of autonomous driving technology and to conduct operational demonstrations on actual rail networks. By eliminating the inefficiencies inherent in traditional freight transport, the company aims to build a logistics network capable of meeting diverse needs across both long-distance hauls and shorter routes.
This funding round was led by Anthos Capital, with participation from Congruent Ventures, Bling Capital, UX Ventures, and B37 Ventures.
