Peak XV Partners has announced a significant increase in the investment limit per company for its seed-stage startup support program, "Surge," raising it from the previous $3 million to $5 million. This decision reflects the current market environment, where the fundraising hurdle from seed stage to Series A has risen, and capital needs in the early stages are increasing.
Regarding this measure, Peak XV cited recent changes in the economic landscape surrounding startups. As the timeframe to reach Series A lengthens, the goal is to strongly back the sustainable growth and milestone achievement of portfolio companies by deploying larger amounts of capital at the early stage.
Alongside the announcement of the investment cap increase, the 18 startup companies making up Surge's latest cohort were unveiled. The selected companies are based in India and Southeast Asia, representing innovative startups from a wide range of industries. Peak XV plans to continue accelerating the revitalization of the ecosystem in the Asian region through hands-on support and funding for these companies.
