SHIBUYA QWS, the co-creation facility operated by Shibuya Scramble Square Co., Ltd., has officially announced the "QWS STARTUP AWARD 2027," scheduled for March 9, 2027. This award is designed to support startups that go beyond mere business growth potential to challenge themselves in creating new social value. The program leverages the expertise of a facility that has supported over 490 startups since its inception in 2019.
The award is open to seed and pre-seed startups that are either already incorporated or planning to register their business by January 2027. There are no restrictions regarding the field of business, years since founding, product status, or prior funding history. Pre-entry opened on September 2, 2026, with the official application period scheduled to run from October 13, 2026, to January 12, 2027.
The final round will be judged by a panel of industry experts, including veteran angel investors and active entrepreneurs. The winner of the QWS Grand Prize will receive a ¥1 million cash grant, alongside a special advertising package valued at ¥2 million, which includes exposure on Shibuya Scramble Square's exterior LED displays and large-scale station digital signage. Furthermore, winners will be granted opportunities to form business alliances and conduct pilot projects with QWS member companies and local government entities.
The selection process begins with a document screening, followed by online interviews. The final stage will consist of a five-minute on-site pitch followed by a Q&A session. For seed-stage startups, this event represents a valuable opportunity to receive feedback from seasoned professionals, as well as a prime chance to boost brand visibility through high-profile advertising in the heart of Shibuya.
