The Exploration Company, a European startup specializing in orbital cargo transportation, has secured $160 million in a Series B funding round. The round was co-led by Balderton Capital and Plural, with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, NGP Capital, French Tech Souveraineté, and other investors.
The Exploration Company is developing "Nyx," a reusable spacecraft engineered for orbital cargo transport and space exploration. Headquartered in Europe, the startup aims to catalyze the commercial space economy by establishing a sustainable, cost-effective space logistics infrastructure.
The newly acquired capital will be used to accelerate the development of the flagship Nyx spacecraft and scale operational capacity. Backed by a strong partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA), the company plans to build the technological foundation necessary to support cargo missions to the International Space Station (ISS) and meet the demands of next-generation deep space exploration.
