wakai Inc., a provider of online dispute resolution (ODR) services leveraging Japan's Ministry of Justice-certified Alternative Dispute Resolution (certified ADR) procedures, has announced the completion of its latest funding round, bringing its total funding to ¥300 million. The newly raised capital will be allocated toward accelerating the social implementation of its flagship service, "wakai for Divorce," expanding into new domains such as unpaid debt collection, strengthening its product and AI infrastructure, and scaling its organizational structure.
Operating under the mission "Moving Consensus Forward," wakai Inc. operates a dispute resolution platform accessible via smartphones. Utilizing the framework of Ministry of Justice-certified ADR (Certification No. 183), the company collaborates with impartial and neutral attorney-mediators to provide online consensus-building support. Established in November 2024, wakai offers pre-litigation solutions for legal challenges such as divorce, child support, and parent-child visitation.
With this funding, the company aims to evolve from its traditional focus on the "divorce" sector into a "comprehensive ODR platform" that spans multiple social issues. Starting with solutions for unpaid payment issues, wakai aims to build a foundational infrastructure for resolving disputes that arise in daily life and business, including inheritance, labor, and housing. On the technological front, the company plans to strengthen its AI infrastructure—specialized in information organization and communication support—while maintaining a balance between proper certified ADR operations and regulatory compliance.
