X has announced that it has switched its reward payout processor for U.S.-based creators from Stripe, its previous partner, to its own proprietary platform, "X Money." This system change drives the in-housing of backend functions that support economic activity on X.
"X Money" is the infrastructure designed to directly process revenue distributions to creators on the X platform. Moving forward, users will receive their earnings through X Money rather than via traditional Stripe-mediated payments. This transition has begun rolling out to users in the United States.
By migrating the payment process from an external third party to its own platform, X enables integrated management of payment data. Bringing payment infrastructure in-house is viewed as part of an effort to optimize fee structures, enable faster payouts to creators, and lay the groundwork for future financial service expansions.
While this initial migration targets U.S.-based creators, X is likely to roll out global deployment and expand payment features in phases. Moving forward, attention will be focused on improving the payment experience through X Money and implementing additional features to strengthen the creator economy.
