Nissei Capital Co., Ltd. has invested in OptQC Inc., a developer of next-generation computing infrastructure using optical quantum technology, through its "Sustainability Challenge Solution Fund No. 1 Investment Limited Partnership." As a member of the Nippon Life Group, Nissei Capital aims to support OptQC's technology development, societal implementation, and contribution to achieving the SDGs.
Founded in September 2024, OptQC Inc. is a deep-tech startup rooted in years of research achievements at the University of Tokyo. The company promotes the research and development of optical quantum computers capable of operating under room-temperature and normal-pressure environments. OptQC is steadily advancing its societal implementation, having already delivered its first unit to the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST).
This investment is backed by the technological superiority of the optical quantum approach. Compared to conventional quantum computers, it enables lower energy consumption and a simplified control system, holding high promise for achieving both scalability and practical application. Moving forward, the company plans to contribute to the formation of a sustainable society—such as reducing CO2 emissions and maintaining human health—through applications across a wide range of industries, including logistics optimization, accelerated development of new and energy materials, and the promotion of drug discovery.
